Vehicle access for land use development: Design Guidelines

My undergraduate research project focus on developing guidelines for the vehicle access while designing development areas. There are many factors determine the access pathways to a development area. Improper access leads to critical issues with respect to user inconvenience, traffic delays and road safety. The guidelines for the design of vehicle access for land use development is proposed based on traffic engineering parameters; traffic flow level, type of main traffic roads, traffic management strategies in operation that will minimize any potential negative impact. For the development of the guidelines, VISSIM simulations, traffic surveys, questionnaire surveys, observations and findings in literature were used. Kavigai Foundation

Kavigai Foundation is a financially transparent platform for uplifting education sector via volunteering projects. Kavigai was initiated by me and my close friends and we as a team with other university students, have done many projects mainly in the rural areas of Sri Lanka to empower their education. I am being served as director for project management since the day it started. I have organized the workshops, classes, visits and communicated with relevant parties regarding the projects. Jaffna Healthy City project is currently homed at Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna. As the revival of Jaffna after three decades war, the urbanization was causing a massive strain making the city to burst at the seams with congestion and unclean environments. The encompassing strain was being experienced in the water supply system, sanitation, food safety, housing and working conditions and the fast and complicated lifestyle of Jaffna’s citizens. This project helps working in tandem to build on the resources and strengths to promote the health of the people in this resilient city. I was serving as a team member and volunteer in this project. Tamil Literary Association - University of Moratuwa

The Tamil Literary Association at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, likely plays a significant role in promoting and preserving Tamil language, culture, and literature within the university community by providing chance to the students to express their talents. I have been the Engineering faculty coordinator in the 2019-2020 Tamil Literary Association committee. While I was in this role, I have coordinated sports festivals; 'Nandu trophy' and 'Amizh-karo trophy', cultural events; Thaipongal festival, Vaani vizha and Thamizharuvi; and debate competions; 'Sotkanai'. Sports festivals are conducted between faculties and levels. Cricket (Men & Women), Netball, Badminton, Carom, Volleyball and football are the games usually played in these trophies.
