Tamil Literary Association - University of Moratuwa

The Tamil Literary Association at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, likely plays a significant role in promoting and preserving Tamil language, culture, and literature within the university community by providing chance to the students to express their talents.

I have been the Engineering faculty coordinator in the 2019-2020 Tamil Literary Association committee. While I was in this role, I have coordinated sports festivals; 'Nandu trophy' and 'Amizh-karo trophy', cultural events;  Thaipongal festival, Vaani vizha and Thamizharuvi; and debate competions; 'Sotkanai'.

Sports festivals are conducted between faculties and levels. Cricket (Men & Women), Netball, Badminton, Carom, Volleyball and football are the games usually played in these trophies. I have coordinated the teams, scheduled the matches, arranged the resources for the success of these events.

Cultural festivals at the university mainly aligned with Tamil cultural festivals. Thamizharuvi is a grand festival and talent show of the Tamil students (undergraduates) at the university. I have been served as one of the coordinator for that event too. I have involved in comprehensive planning of this event including budgeting, external relations with sponsors, coordinating students for the events, coordinating competitions, annual magazine editing, worked with university administration for the approvals and worked with alumni.
