Northern Water Dialogue Forum

'Northern Water Dialogue Forum' is a platform that brings together a diverse range of stakeholders to engage in open discussions and collaborative efforts related to water resources, management and water security in Northern Sri Lanka.

This forum is an output of WASPAR project of University of Jaffna consisting a diverse group of stakeholders, including government agencies, non-governmental organizations, community leaders, researchers, community citizens and other interested parties, to engage them in fruitful discussions and collaborative efforts related to water resources, management, and security of Northern Sri Lanka.

The members of this forum has been identified through multiple Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) conducted with different stakeholder groups such as business sector people, media, farmers, education sector, government officials, non-government organizations and etc. in different parts of Northern Province.

I was working as a Research assistant in WASPAR project and conducted all these FGDs. Then we analyzed the inputs given by the participants and based on their interest and influence (stakeholder mapping), they have been identified as members for the Northern Water Dialogue Forum.

We are conducting dialogue series on different emerging topics currently underway on water supply, land use, groundwater management and water quality aspects.
