Kavigai Foundation is a financially transparent platform for uplifting education sector via volunteering projects.
Kavigai was initiated by me and my close friends and we as a team with other university students, have done many projects mainly in the rural areas of Sri Lanka to empower their education. I am being served as director for project management since the day it started.
I have organized the workshops, classes, visits and communicated with relevant parties regarding the projects. Further, I have prepared the comprehensive plans for all the projects which includes budgets, timelines, resources and other support. The list of projects are mentioned below.
Chanakya 1.0 - Computer Literacy workshop for teachers and students, and book donation
Chanakya 2 - 8 numbers of Math and Science workshops for GCE O/L students. This has continuously done for months to prepare the students in underprivileged schools for their GCE O/L exams. Chanakya 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 series have been successfully completed by our volunteers and we could see the high pass rate in that year. Some schools at the war affected areas were also selected in order to empower their education.
Sirtpi (1.0,2.0,3.0)- SIRTPI, a project started out with the goal of improving the classroom standards of the schools in rural areas. We have done paintings, renovations and modifications in selected schools from underprivileged villages of Sri Lanka.
Vallinam (1.0 & 2.0) Project series have been started in order to improve the soft skills of the school children. In that way debating skills development workshops have been conducted.
Akshaya project series have been started to empower the rural community by supporting livelihood of families who suffer to raise their children.
Iruman project series have been started during COVID period to enhance the digital literacy of the children.
By being a director of project management in this organization, I could improve my skills in a better way. Particularly; team work, leadership, communication, presentation, facilitation, conflict management, resources management and holistic thinking skills have been improved.
