A trip to Remember

Sometimes we travel to be lost..

Hill Country of Sri Lanka never disappoints anyone with its beauty and nature. Gampola is a well-known ancient city on the central hill and the capital of Sri Lanka in the period 14th Century BC.

Pre-historic ruins and natural beauty attract tourists towards it. Lankathilaka Temple, Embekka Devalaya, Ambuluwawa tower, Kotmale Dam, Tea factories, mountain ranges, and rivers are some perfect tourist hotspots.

I was away from home alone for four days last November. The climate was mist and drizzling in that period, changing the mood like heaven. So, I chose Gampola to spend my vacation and chose my accommodation a bit far away from town to be with nature.

On the first day, I traveled for 8 hours; hence I could not visit any places. However, I explored the neighborhood on a walk. It was a cloudy, peaceful evening with little drizzling, making me feel like swinging in the air. The food is nothing special to the place but cheaper and delicious.

The following day started with a warm sun kissing during the morning walk to the nearest mountain Ambuluwawa.  Ambuluwawa tower is located at the peak of the mountain, an iconic tourist spot for the experience while climbing and breathtaking views. The narrow steps and the height give the scary and adventurous feeling, but the stunning view makes you forget yourself. The tower and the surrounding of this tower are admired with the beauty of a botanical garden and multi-religious centers. This place made me forget the time hence spent the whole day at this mountain.

The third day started with the visit to the Kotmale reservoir, about 15km from where I stayed. The place is surrounded by tall and straight trees and greenery, which is a spectacular view. The reservoir is nestled with mountain ranges and hydraulic structures. The water is clear and tranquil, which reflects the sky. We can walk along the dam and admire the beauty of the reservoir and the downstream. Hydraulic structures here contain machinery which is for hydraulic power production.

Apart from these, I have visited many iconic locations, waterfalls, tea factories, and historical places and tasted delicious local food.

This is a trip with beautiful memories and experiences filled with several colorful and exciting people who helped me differently. It is a significant breakthrough for the messed-up life. No matter how hard our life, trips are the best solution.
